As summer fades away for another year, I have happily transitioned into Autumn. And I couldn’t be more excited! It’s a time of year when everything slows down to a manageable pace & we can all catch our breath.
I fully believe in decorating with the change of any season, it gives the house a whole new feel and a welcome change. In Autumn, when the weather begins to change outside, the interior of your home should subtly reflect those changes as well.
Autumn decorating is all about adding warmth, creating an inviting space, and of course, expressing your own style. Adding accessories in beautiful turning leaf tones will instantly change up your space.

Autumn decor offers a beautiful rich colour palette and I am a little obsessed with the rustic charm of the season, the cozy ambiance, the lighting of candles (& every lamp in the house!) and all the colourful beauty this season brings.
Creative use of vintage and seasonal elements foraged from the last of the blooms in the garden creates the perfect base for my decor, mixed with gourds, pumpkins and autumnal leaves. Candles are essential and if they are coloured all the better. I definitely don’t spend a lot to achieve this every year, but I have invested in a few key pieces & some good quality foliage as a base and then build on that. When I start my seasonal decorating, I often don't have a plan in mind, Sometimes it works out better than i imagined and other times, I chop & change relentlessly until I get it right. Either way it's always a very enjoyable and rewarding experience.

My advice would be to look for items that inspire that hygge home feeling. Layer different patterns & textures to add interest. And if in doubt, pumkins, pumkins, pumpkins! Can you ever have enough? So many varieties available, in all colours, shapes & sizes. Grouping these together on front door steps, stairways, book shelves & window sills will elevate the look and create an instant Autumn vibe.
